Carpe Diem

I woke this morning and heard, “Carpe Diem.”

Then as I stretched from my slumber, “Do not take it away from them.”
So I sat to write and listen, to listen and uncover, to write and discover as I emailed a mighty companion…

“The only point of our joining is to relax back into an experience of Truth together.

When we joined yesterday for what was intended to be a brief refocus for the mind so it could sink into safety, I thought it was like offering a hand to someone to transfer to a deep warm bath. It’s not that they couldn’t of themselves ‘get in’ if they desired, but I perceived that a slick floor, and cool tiles had become such an interference that it was a chasm to remembering why they would want to disrobe and face the cool nakedness of the transition. I believed, I came as a lamp to illuminate the warmth and relief in every step so there was no perceived need for strategizing the gap or geeing up for an imagined leap.

But I see in writing this now that I was mistaken.

My only function is to orientate to the warm eternal embrace that always surrounds us. To accept the complete lack of distance we seem to traverse by seeing once more this journey happened long ago. I have no other purpose. I can no longer imagine myself as a stop-gap! I must agree that healing has happened. I see I thought I could “save” you from your plan for salvation—but not from my own! Now I accept we have both been saved and that all journeying is useless.

Sometimes at the end of our joining, clarifying the next guided step veers into defense via preparation and not into continuity of Presence. Our parting then induces apparent panic for you because we have not truly surrendered / given Way together.

In your practice, try to give over every plan you have accepted
for finding magnitude in littleness. It is not there.
Use the holy instant only to recognize
that you alone cannot know where it is,

and can only deceive yourself.”

Current Guidance can easily morph into future planning if it’s purpose is not accepted in the moment: realizing that you are already taken care of! You cannot prepare for the Holy Instant.

It is in this unkempt, uncoiffed moment of shedding our robe, as we stand naked unwashed of perceived sin and guilt that we must open to the Beloved. Only by accepting the wretched hopelessness of our way can we welcome His gaze. Innocence engulfs our shame in this transmutation. There is no gap. No solo walk or precarious plunge.

And so I can only illuminate this intimate invitation for myself when we join. The holy instant is this instant and every instant. The one you want it to be it is … for beyond the past and future, where you will not find it, it stands in shimmering readiness for your acceptance. ACIM (T-15.IV.3)

A Course in Miracles clarifies True Empathy is our Acceptance that healing has happened!

“How could this readiness be reached save through the sight of all your misery, and the awareness that your plan has failed, and will forever fail to bring you peace and joy of any kind? Through this despair you travel now, yet it is but illusion of despair. The death of specialness is not your death, but your awaking into life eternal. You but emerge from an illusion of what you are to the acceptance of yourself as God created you.” —A Course in Miracles, “The Treachery of Specialness” (T-24.II.14)

“Give over every plan you have made for your salvation in exchange for God’s. His will content you, and nothing else can bring you peace. For peace is of God, and no one beside Him.” —ACIM, Practicing the Holy Instant (T-15.IV.2)

“To empathize does not mean to join in suffering, for that is what you must refuse to understand. That is the ego’s interpretation of empathy, and is always used to form a special relationship in which the suffering is shared.” —ACIM (T-16.I.1)
