Correction is not your function

Correction is not your function Acceptance Is! This Mystic Life PODCAST #ACIM #Wisdom #Mindset Sarah just lets it flow here. The Clarity came from a recent email with a friend where the Awareness that her false responsibility stemmed from the belief that “we are not responsible for the error but the Correction.” Which is true, however Acceptance is our function rather than the correcting! The Correction occurred long ago, a reassuring response to a tiny mad idea!

Correction is not your function

PODCAST INTRO
Welcome to this Mystic Life podcast, a podcast that aims to look at the world differently with total responsibility for sight.

PODCAST EPISODE TRANSCRIPT: Correction is not your function

Yes, exactly. You have no corrective function. So anytime you feel yourself contracting as you steel yourself in order to try harder, better, something, more, take a deep breath and allow yourself to be relieved of the idea that you have a corrective function and instead open gently to receive the relief that the Holy Spirit has to offer you. For the Comforter has come.

I think it is very important to understand that we do not have a corrective function at all. We literally do not have the ability to correct anything. Our function is acceptance.

Acceptance of the Atonement for ourselves, which is acceptance of our innocence, our acceptance that we are mistaken in what we are seeing, our acceptance that the person and the persona we perceive ourselves to be is mistaken identity, a case of mistaken identity. Acceptance that we are a holy child of God, acceptance that we are in truth Christ, the one Son.

And in this acceptance, we can be relieved of the false judgment, the misappropriation of time and space that is being used on behalf of the lie and maintaining this false reality to which we have been subjected.

Now, when you hear me say we have been subjected, it sounds like you are a victim of the world and how does that help? Well, unless you acknowledge that that is how you feel and come into an authentic expression of where you perceive yourself to be and who you perceive yourself to be, the Comforter cannot come.

When you find yourself disorientated through trying to hold space for others, trying to forgive others, trying to be good with the hurt you are experiencing from others or situations that seem to be occurring in your life, you are doubling down on working against yourself. What you are failing to do in those moments is reveal to yourself your location.

And when I say that is you must allow yourself to be found by the Shepherd. You must allow yourself to bleat and be that one in a hundred sheep that acknowledges it is in the bushes and it is not doing good, that the thorns in the thicket are getting stronger and piercing its side and that of itself it cannot be lifted out of the seeming situational thinking of time and space. That is why you do not have a corrective function.

Now, initially this feels very disempowering to the ego because its entire raison d’etre is empowerment, predictability, pattern recognition, and deployment of problem solving. And so in order to have your Siddhartha under the Bodhi tree moment, your lamb in the thicket stuck with thorns, you must cease to deploy the corrective function that is not yours and to come into the acceptance that is yours and is for you. And that acceptance is simply that you have a perceptual problem.

So you cannot pick between the thorns you would take and the thorns you would take out to thwart the enemy. You can only allow yourself to be perceived correctly by the one who loves you and therefore have the mesmerism of containment and contortion and contraction gently unfurled from around the mind where it has been imprisoned so that you can accept the clarity and safety and vision and comfort of the Holy Spirit. And I feel this is a very important point in the mind and the experience of the awakening mind at which many find themselves right now.

It is very important that your focus right now be solely on accepting the correction for yourself, solely on accepting peace as your reality and gently allowing all that is not that, that is scouring and scourging your holy mind to be exposed and witnessed to and relieved. Any focus on what seeming others are doing right now will increase this conflict 200-fold. The degree to which you imagine you have a function in the world where you do anything like forgive people, hold space, right wrongs, attend to care and comfort in form of people, places, things, that is the degree to which right now you will be literally crucified.

In order to be truly helpful our investment, and this is the keyword, our investment in the suffering must first be withdrawn. And how does that happen? Your investment in the suffering is maintained by your belief that you can alter it in some way, you can mitigate or minimize it in some way. The irony is that is what is maintaining the suffering, because the shame and blame would not fall at your feet or upon your holy name if you recognized that they were untrue.

It is by taking them on as a standard bearer and calling forth the armies of righteousness on behalf of the rebellion against the other entity that is both reinforcing the reality of that doubt thought against the truth of who you are, and also enabling and sustaining a life force and a persona and a mask that you think you are from facing annihilation. Now no one can come into their right mind in a moment of being faced with what they experience as a personal annihilation. Yes, intellectually we are aware, it is of the ego, but that is not kindness.

And gentleness is one of the attributions of a teacher of God, and therefore of the teacher of God, the Holy Spirit. And so you must be removed to a spacious place in your mind. There is a conveyance that needs to occur and that can only occur through your acceptance of the suffering you are directly experiencing in that moment.

If you dilute it by splitting it between two as if there is a back and forth and an argument occurring, then it is less plain to you where the suffering is coming from. And so it is in simply saying, I do not like how I feel. I, you can look and say that is a small I and it is not real, it is not true.

If you deny that position as being the position that is suffering, then how can you be removed from that position if you do not allow yourself while you occupy that seeming position to be rescued? You cannot be your own guide to miracles for it is you who has made them necessary. And it is vital now that we come into an honest appreciation of what this Course is asking us to do and an integrity with that consistent response of simply asking for help by saying, “I do not like how I feel.”

And because we come to the Spirit with an approximation, and again, this is the time space discontinuation that gets us lost, an approximation of what we imagine is happening. And we spend all our time focusing on even finagling in our description of said predicament.

If we can instead allow ourselves to humbly come, as I have always said, like a small two-year-old and simply share how this hurts, I hurt, then the hurt can be removed so that the perception of identity from false to true can naturally shift. It immediately reorientates when the extremity of the pain and suffering is at least momentarily removed, because that is the description of the identity and what is holding it in place is the suffering.

Without the suffering, the identity is buoyant and free and eternal. There is no shift you personally need to make. There is no personal correction of your point of view that you need to try harder to rise your vibration towards recognizing yourself. That is still some form of attainment. That is still some form of self-persecution on behalf of striving towards something. Again, it is helpful to remember that we are laying backward into a feather bed that is ours.

It is who we are. It is a spacious place in the mind that is beyond struggle and strife, and you cannot attain it or find it or fight for it. You can only be relieved of what appears to be its opposite, which has no hold over you as long as you do not deploy your own means by which you would resolve the conundrum as you see it.

So at this juncture, it actually feels very helpful for everyone to remember that you can only accept the Atonement for yourself, and that that is not done despite all the teachings of the religions of the world through being a good person in the world. The saintliness to which the Course points is sanity. It is a recognition of the fact that you are doing this to yourself, and it is a recognition that in your struggling and trying to do it better, whatever you imagine is being asked of you, is doubling down on that obsidian knot that has you tied and constricted and contained within a world of time and space and distress and discomfort.

Your function is acceptance. As you feel yourself tightly bound, as you fear annihilation, your function is acceptance that what you are perceiving is not true. You are not asked to be good in the face of what seems to you as adversity. You are not asked to be compliant or subservient or subjugated by what you experience as outside force. You are not asked to be passive as a person in the face of what you experience as a slight or extreme violence.

What you are being asked to do is to recognize that even though there seems to be overwhelming validity to where the cause of suffering is coming from, that it is merely that you are mistaken in that false cause. And while you take whatever natural, authentic, in-the-moment steps appear to be helpful to relieve yourself of that intensity momentarily, if you can clock the intensity and use that to expose the beliefs and desires in the mind as you move, and the Spirit will always encourage and support you being moved into a spaciousness from which you can reflect upon what you have been perceiving. And when I say reflect, I do not mean ruminate, figure out, try harder, process more. I mean genuinely be lifted out of a pure acceptance that you have a perceptual problem.

And we must now come into the purity of that acceptance that we have a perceptual problem and not allow the mind to tip over into fantasy and finagling and figuring out and attempting for resolution and form. That is the temptation that Jesus faced in the desert for those 40 days, the temptation that it could be resolved through form. And it is the temptation that the world is facing now, that there is a way in which we could approach things, even look at them different, even in a high-minded way, that we could be influential and influence others, so that peace would prevail in the world.

This is the squeeze of a lifetime. What people are experiencing now and what they are sharing with me is akin to their own internal crucifixion. And if the last useless journey upon the cross taught us anything, it is in the outstretched arms of Christ, in symbolic representation of Jesus saying, you cannot touch this.

This quality of presence of who I am cannot be touched. But if you imagine for a moment that that occurred through suffering rather than release, then you will be repeating that last useless journey. You will in fact be putting yourself in harm’s way because of a perception that struggle and suffering are part and parcel of the pathway of awakening.

You will face the extremity of the self-hatred that the ego has for you and your awareness of who you are in truth. Yet that intensity is not coming from any form. And the only way that you can be relied upon to accept the Atonement for yourself is to not be the rescuer, but to be relieved.

In being the one who is relieved, it is a very authentic space. You can hear it. It is almost like a portal between the two seeming identities where the shift occurs. If you choose to be the one who is relieved, you are already saying to the Holy Spirit, choose for God for me. And yet it in no way chooses against the mesmerism of who you have believed yourself mistakenly to be. And so it does not activate a self-attack response.

And if every morning when you did Rules for Decision, you use that as what you chose to be, to be relieved. I like to think of relief as a synonym for peace that can easily be chosen, almost like a passageway. I choose to be relieved today. Relieved of my false duties, relieved of suffering, relieved of the belief in false responsibility, relieved of the belief that I have to care for others, relieved of the belief that I have to care for myself, relieved of the belief that this world of time and space is something I must focus on and fight against. Or we are still for. And that is where everyone is getting caught right now is the fighting for the world.

And you can see how it makes you a complicit and compliant participant beyond your belief of just allowing all things to be exactly as they are. When that belief is employed on behalf of being relieved, it allows you that very small pause for a moment. It allows a portal of prayer and stillness to come where you can look upon the world exactly as it is, accepting that it is a perceptual problem you have.

And in that stillness and quiet of just a moment, invite relief. And if we use that concept of relief as what we are inviting, then truly you are welcoming the Spirit. And you are inviting it in such a way that you will have no conflict in inviting the Spirit, because you cannot imagine that anything will be taken away from you that you love or need or is helpful.

Because being relieved does not invite more sacrifice or suffering. It is an immediate cessation or ceasefire of attack. And so our function as miracle workers right now is accepting correction of perception, not running around correcting others’ perception.

Very humbly, our function is in the sanctity of our own hearts to allow a spacious place whereby we unfurl our fingers from all the fixing that would keep us dislocated, disorientated, and allow ourselves to be found by the Spirit. Now, the Spirit already knows where you are. You are safe at home in heaven, dreaming.

Yet experientially, acceptance of the correction, which is like a huge relief where all the binds unravel immediately and dissolves into the nothingness from which it came. And there is an expansion in that interior sense of self. There is an openness.

The contraction has been relieved, and Christ is born anew in our awareness. And this acceptance is your function in every moment. And it is as simple as allowing a tight contraction to gently relax back and be relieved. And that is what accepting the correction for yourself feels like.

Allow the clouds to part and His sparkling light shine upon your face, illuminating where you have always been, where you will always be, and what is eternal and true for you. Correction is not your function because correction is a form of judgment when used by you in time and space.

And it has been made clear in both the Bible and A Course in Miracles when it says, judge not. Because you are incapable of judgment, you are incapable of discernment, you are incapable of a right-minded state that sees completely beyond the mesmerism of time and space. Remember, the wrong-minded and right-minded states are still within the deceived mind.

One, the right-minded state, is merely the open face to being found. It is our turning towards the Spirit to allow the comfort that can relieve us of the illusion of time and space. And within the deceived mind, the wrong-mindedness is when we think it is up to us to fix and finagle and fight for our right to party.

And when it says in A Course in Miracles, that God will take the last step, it means that the function beyond being relieved, the function beyond acceptance, is not our concern. Our focus must be on forgiveness, which is the only double-edged sword that will not hurt or maintain the mesmerism. And that forgiveness is a shift in identity.

That forgiveness is an acceptance that I have a perceptual problem. And that forgiveness is the welcome to the spaciousness that the Holy Spirit can offer the mind in order to come into right-mindedness, a perspective so high it is close to vision. And yet our function is not on seeing nothing as wrong.

Our function in acceptance of the Atonement for ourselves is the maintenance of an open perspective that accepts and acknowledges that it does not know, that it cannot understand, and yet it can be shown what is truly helpful. And from that open and unsealed mind, what is experienced as the Holy Spirit guiding through time and space can be used to very adeptly and adroitly, meaning directly, take us into that experiential relief, that acceptance of the Atonement for ourselves, that experience of being found and taken to a spacious place.

So it is vital that our focus be on that acceptance, that being found, that being relieved, because the only substitute the ego has for that is judgment. And even in spiritual terms, what would be called discernment. And there is a certain point in handing ourselves over under Christ’s control, that there is an awareness that their discernment between two things is still part of the dual functioning of time and space. And Holy Spirit decide for God, for me, which is a singular choice, must instead take precedence.

Acceptance must take precedence over any ideas of discernment, which people consistently imagine to be personal. The only discernment you have is in noticing how you feel. And using Rules for Decision, Chapter 30, deciding that you do not like how you feel, is your acceptance of the perceptual problem and the acceptance that there is an answer beyond the realm at which you are now operating in, which is self-deception.

A portal of welcome through which the Comforter can come and clarify for you what you are looking upon. At this juncture, I would also like to remind us that our understanding of how all things work together for good is not required for all things to be working together for good.

There is a lot of in the development of trust a recognition that it is a decision that the level of trust development you are on is one where you will simply trust. It is a decision. Holy Spirit decide for God for me. And in that openness to taking the template that we have foisted upon the world off momentarily even the things of time and space can seem to shift and appear in a new way Which relieves the mind of the belief that it has a corrective function.

And when we allow that corrective function that we imagine we have that we have discerned that we are capable of and that we have judged ourselves to be responsible for when we allow ourselves to accept that we have a perceptual problem in an instant a very holy instant we can be relieved of that point of view.

And I think you can see how delightful being relieved of that point of view truly could be. And so when you are confronted with a slight or the extreme intensity That ego annihilation calls you to defend against lay down your arms and ask to be taken to a spacious place. Call out in all the extremity of the intensity that you are experiencing and ask to be shown. Ask to be found. Ask through your acceptance that you have a perceptual problem to be relieved of suffering and be shown true safety in the mind.

Correction is not your function. Acceptance that everything has already been corrected and exists in a purified state and that you are welcome for witnessing to that state, fearlessly, is all that is being invited in a world that seems and appears to be wildly fluctuating. Consistent and honest moment by moment approach to acceptance is all that is invited and asked of you. Disquiet arises. I do not like how I feel so I must have decided wrongly. Holy Spirit decide for God for me because I can accept, and here we go again, I can accept that I do not like how I feel and I can also accept your Comfort and Presence and prayerful help and support in moving the mind into a place of spacious receptivity to all that is.

To see the nothingness of that which would hurt and harm and to see the eternal incorruptible identity that we share in Christ at a very intimate and simple level beyond any intellectual words or understanding of things which we are already starting to notice that understanding can be a limitation on acceptance.

Our new prayer can simply be I do not like how I feel. I would like to feel relieved. Holy Spirit decide for God for me. That is what acceptance looks like, practically moment to moment without reference or deference to the world of time and space. It is an intimate honest cry and call for love and it has already been answered. Our function is acceptance where we sink into that given answer because the Comforter has come.
