DAY 6: 40 Days of Reflection on Christ Presence
It is of them who learned of freedom
that you should ask what freedom is.
Ask not the sparrow how the eagle soars,
for those with little wings have not accepted
for themselves the power to share with you.
—ACIM (T-20.IV.4:6-7)
The Spirit has asked me to speak about part of the choir in the song of Home that is *missing in action. The flower children of the 60’s who began this current movement and momentum for Love and Peace. Maturing now their soaring voices seem strangely scant. Not absent, for many mighty companions of all ages with eternal beaming eyes have blest my journey.
But where are the rest? What shepherd when minding his flock of a hundred would not leave the other 99 and go look for the lost sheep? But if that charge thought to be scolded or rebuked for becoming waylain in the thistles would he cease to bleat for his master? Shame casts aside all care, and leaves a limp faith watered down by unworthiness, and damp mantras. Christ becomes a decorative candle and not a flame to set our heart alight! “Do not betray yourself,” the guilt cautions, “don’t give yourself away.”
“And you give yourself away, you give yourself away.
With or without you, I can’t live with or without you.”
Betrayal is feared by a loss of faith. This is untrue. The harsh hush is the betrayal of Christ, and Jesus says: Leave the ego to me. Rail against the dying of the light. You have nothing left to lose—give you self away!
There is only one song to sing. It is one of certainty of help, not hope. One of endless Acceptance for Homecoming and welcome, where you feel landed, finally in your rightful place, and are complete. Only the Child-like sing this song. This melody of Home and Belonging while those that grow old—whether through time or tears, wilt on the now saccharin lyrics that promised so much in their youth.
Lost in a moment, stuck on you, these hang ups and hatreds have robbed them of certainty as they slope into oblivion without railing against the dying of the light—fixating on their franchise and legacy. Lost to the trust and open upturned face that never doubted a kiss could come at any moment from the Beloved.
1. Prayer is the greatest gift with which God blessed His Son at his creation. ²It was then what it is to become; the single voice Creator and creation share; the song the Son sings to the Father, Who returns the thanks it offers Him unto the Son. ³Endless the harmony, and endless, too, the joyous concord of the Love They give forever to Each Other. —ACIM (S-1.in.1:1-3)
Faith is a flame. This lit and sparkling Song of Prayer; a round of Father and Son, is all that we find sweet and melodic and true. You can’t create it, or synthesize this elixir of Life. It is borne only by those who refuse to repeat the endless cycles of false cause and effect that weary the Spirit by trying to perfect what is already inviolate.
Rest not on your laurels. It is only in the uncontrived moment of releasing ones present desire and passion for peace to the world that allows notes of pure joy to shatter the space time continuum and reveal the eternal exactly as it is—Present. A gift for all that give Voice to it, and a resounding resonance to all who Listen.
Do not despair. There is always this evergreen ancient song to sing for those who have grown tired and weary of wandering. You who have a voice in this world can remind them, but not if the past is your god; to whom you pay daily homage in reminiscence and nostalgia.
This is a general reCall for those once Inspired, to dig deeper rather than to recycle the past. Former glories eclipse the Miracle that shines a light of Forgiveness now; on beliefs in decay and decrepitude. Age has become a shame and the wisened wisdom that once guided has become embarrassed of itself and looks to serums of youth for solution. Because happiness was then… and accommodation and comfort for the body is now.
There is a great need for the Children of Light to shine once more in Acceptance, where ever they stand, sit, crawl or lie. For authentically EXPOSING what we now fear to face, intimately reveals the face of Christ.
Hiding, pretending and over-riding serve no one. Medicating, managing and minimizing pain result in marginalization. Controlling, complaining and being miserable immolate without burning off the dross.
Declare yourself Here, Now and demand an Answer. An end to suffering. “You ask for to little.” Cry out in pain, frustration or dull irritation! That is how all who threw themselves at Jesus’ feet showed up. The circumspect Scribes and Pharisees had no access to this shining Presence because they were too clothed in conduct becoming “the role.”
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
—Dylan Thomas, Welsh Poet
Rage now against the dying of the Light for I guarantee you the gifts of God are waiting to extend through you—exactly as you are!!!!!
“Love waits on welcome, not on time.” All the ages wish to hear you break through—to see once more the Face of Christ mirrored perfectly and refreshed in faith—that He came for YOU!
Salvation, perfect and complete, asks but a little wish that what is true be true; a little willingness to overlook what is not there; a little sigh that speaks for Heaven as a preference to this world that death and desolation seem to rule. ²In joyous answer will creation rise within you, to replace the world you see with Heaven, wholly perfect and complete. ³What is forgiveness but a willingness that truth be true? ⁴What can remain unhealed and broken from a unity which holds all things within itself? ⁵There is no sin. ⁶And every miracle is possible the instant that the Son of God perceives his wishes and the Will of God are one. —ACIM (T-26.VII.10:1-6)
We can all get “a fright” [**] along the Way, let’s not linger in the shame!
We need to hear from those who have come out the other side of life. Who though they may still be going through healing are courageous and transparent enough to share those current life lessons from a potent point of realization, now. A Miracle share. A steady Presence.
We’ve heard much brave expression from millennials and GenZ yet more reflection is needed. I crave the insight of the long view of life from those who desire to mirror eternal realities even though they still sometimes experience disquiet. That to me is an elder. One who would lovingly share the eternal wisdom gained in an hour that present day.
It is important for us to know there are those listening before we Speak, but staying silent is not the way to begin the conversation.
Love,
Sarah
———————> Notes and additional reflections
[NOTES] The original whoosh for this writing came from watching a Bono interview and performance. This part of the song —an old title by U2 transcended it’s presentation, which could be felt as valuable to sing if coming from the present, yielding for both the listener and the crooner added insight with every note. Perhaps telling the original surrender stories will clear the way… for present reflections, perhaps Rick Rubin will give him a call.
This Answer to the Call for Love felt in that moment resurfaced today (apparently still open in pages) with a fresh very direct introduction from the Spirit. The Call felt so strong and immediate that it broke my heart wide open. Thank you to all who have shared they appreciate Listening with me!
* I have literally never had this thought before, of a lost generation. Perhaps the Jesus Revolution (2023) movie is sparking something in the mind? I’ve loved the trailers. Chris said, “Aren’t most of the new thought leaders from that generation?” And I shared that I was speaking of the everyman experience in Awakening. Not the voices that appear to have been Graced with this shift in perception earlier in life. That voice of Trust and patience, as we deepen in Faith through Forgiveness that Bill Thetford, Judith SKutch Whitson, and Jerry Jampolsky demonstrated in their lives.
Let’s end this isolation of generations. With transparency we can save one another much time!
The below video and rendition of “Hurt” by Johny Cash is what I am talking about in dropping “the face of innocence” in order to see the face of Christ. It has always moved me, during moments when catharsis was required in order to open past “a fright” once more to the Light and Truth of Being. I am so grateful to Rick Rubin for making it happen he convinced Johnny Cash that there was a Call for the Voice through him!
We need apostles that both appear as male and female, as young and old to represent this Presence publicly. Perhaps they need a platform? Or perhaps they simply need an invite to remember their Purpose, because there are those with the ears to hear for all who share an intimate present experience of The Miracle.
**My definition of A FRIGHT: fear of failure and being made wrong, a lightning strike of guilt and shame that when left unquestioned can linger and overwhelm even the most devoted dividing them in Awareness from the Christ within.
If I could start againA million miles awayI would keep mySelfI would find a Way
Beneath the face of innocence there is a lesson that the concept of the self was made to teach. It is a lesson in a terrible displacement, and a fear so devastating that the face that smiles above it must forever look away, lest it perceive the treachery it hides. The lesson teaches this: “I am the thing you made of me, and as you look on me, you stand condemned because of what I am.” On this conception of the self the world smiles with approval, for it guarantees the pathways of the world are safely kept, and those who walk on them will not escape. —ACIM (T-31.V.5:1-4)
I want to see the Christ in you is also an invitation to see ourself as Brother, to see past our story. As Jesus asks us to rely on His readiness in Christ.
