WHAT IS YOUR CALLING?
EPISODE: What is Your Calling? This Mystic Life PODCAST
This is one to save for when you can give it your undivided attention. We take a slow winding road into the mind beyond defense to Answer: What is Your Calling? This Mystic Life PODCAST offers Eternal Wisdom with Sarah on the metaphysical healing in mind that Jesus points to in both the Bible & A Course in Miracles.
All are Called, few choose to Listen
All are Called but few choose to Answer. It is but Our Self we deny in delay. Acceptance is our function! So what is this Awareness we are pushing away? When all we are asked to do is Accept Salvation?
In this episode Sarah looks at the coded messages in the Bible that were clear to the first followers. Yet later became distorted into some idea of, “do good” and old style atonement—making sin appear real, and judgement seem necessary.
When we look with the eyes of Christ these Mystical texts: The Bible & A Course in Miracles reveal a very different story…

Welcome to this Mystic Life podcast. A podcast that aims to look at the world differently with total responsibility for sight.
PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
What is your calling? In this episode of this Mystic Life podcast, we look at the truth of what your “Calling” really is. We have to all remember that we’ve been raised in different types of containers, and instructed from seeming birth right through with; social values, family values, religious values. And that this conditioning has constructed a prison of sorts—for the mind—that we are unaware we live inside.
And only through questioning what we believe, and slowly deconstructing that perceptual prison can we truly behold the Truth. Can we truly recognize and remember ourselves as Christ!
And so I feel it’s very important to be humble, as we come to a topic like this to understand that we will be prejudiced. We will have opinions, and we will have very profound, and entrenched beliefs about what we’ve believed to be right, and wrong. What we understand to be good, and bad, and what we perceive to be the answer to those dichotomies and dilemmas within the human condition.
And the answer, no matter what type of answer you’ve been living through up to this point in your life. The answer that we will have come up with will be one that addresses—and fixes through form, through activity in form and magical thinking—a false cause that we believe to be true.
And because it reinforces that initial misperception, it’s really a form of magic. And all forms of magic actually maintain the fear that the magical principle was given to alleviate. It minimizes and maintains the fear through acting in that way.
Now the body is a wholly neutral thing, and so is activity, and yet the purpose we’ve attributed to deeply needs to be questioned. First of all, it needs to be “seen.” And when we feel safe enough to finally open up to look at those deeper conditions of fear within the mind, we can be gently led out of that incredibly thick mesmerism that we’ve been conditioned to experience as: normal, ordinary, what “everyone” thinks acceptable, viable even.
So, let’s begin with the perception that “there is a problem,” because that’s always a great place to start! Now, if you’ve been listening to this podcast for a while, you’ve definitely joined me in embracing the idea that the problem we have is singular, and that is “a perceptual problem.” And that The Answer that we need, is also a singular answer. And that is Vision.
And so with that as our guideline, we’ll just put that to the side in our mind. Just using it like a strong cushion to lean against as we explore what being “truly helpful” really looks like, and what our “Calling” truly is.
And so when we perceive multiple problems, we obviously will come up with multiple options for fixing those seeming problems in time and space. If there is no pause to pray over these perceived problems and to come into relationship with the comforter to be first calmed of our spike reactions, our irritations, our preferences, and our dire need to respond. respond. We have a chance to come into a state of mind that is already comforted. And from there, whatever seeming action appears, that appears to be taken will be aligned, and at one with “what is.”
And it is this at onement, this Atonement, this Forgiveness, this Acceptance of Forgiveness that really allows us to begin to witness to a world that does not need us.
So I hear you say, “Sarah, I thought you said you were going to talk about what is your calling?”
And yes, we shall!
Your Calling is for The Answer.
It is a call for love, and it has “been” past tense Answered!
Which means that whatever experience uh that seems problematic, that you may encounter in the entire course of your life, or seeming past lives, or even projected futures, has already been Answered!
And if that is where we’re beginning from, what is it that remains as a Call for love? What do we need to notice in order to allow us to embrace that “as true,” to Accept Forgiveness for ourselves?
Well, we need to acknowledge that we are witnessing to a world that has passed and gone, and that this experience is far more like a life review. So when we find ourselves frantic and finagling upon the screen of the world, this mirror image of beliefs and often conflicting desires in the mind, we can have great compassion, and in fact charity for that self, seeing that it came to resolution, allowing it to reclaim its identity as the watcher. And by our Presence as we witness to it, soothing our self, and the seeming little one we appear to be that is trying harder, better, more.
And if all outcomes are certain, then they must have a singular outcome.
And that outcome is Love.
For there are only two things occurring in this world.
And though it seems binary, and though it speaks of duality at every sign, it is just love or a call for love.
And when we get into the simplicity of perceiving in that “right minded” way and being Comforted of any misgivings in the mind with the Spirit, we can then begin to slowly allow ourselves to be enveloped by the Vision of the Holy Spirit which truly sees how all things work together for good.
what is your calling?
So what is your calling? Your calling is to understand that you have a perceptual problem, that everything is Forgiven, and that The Answer of the Holy Spirit has been Given to you. As it says in the Bible by Jesus: If I do not go, the Comforter cannot come. The Comforter that will show you what is Real, and True, and Eternal. To welcome you back into the Kingdom of God in your awareness.
This is the Really Good News, that there is no condemnation, that there is no fault or blame in the Kingdom. That there is no burning in the flames of hell, except by your own decision to not look deeper with the Holy Spirit, to estrange yourself from Knowing Thy Self, and to remain isolated, and hidden, and ashamed, and scurrying: trying, and fixing, and finagling. And yet there is incredible compassion for this “little one.”
That is what Jesus means by the poor. The poor are merely those who have invested wrongly, and they are poor indeed. “Remember that those who attack are poor. For you will surely place yourself amongst the poor who do not understand that they dwell in the abundance and that salvation is come. For you will surely place yourself among the poor, who do not understand that they dwell in abundance, and that salvation is come.” —ACIM

This poverty which Jesus speaks of not only in a course in miracles but also in the Bible, which is a mystical text which is a code of parables describing a way to perceive the world instead of be mesmerized by it. The poor that Jesus is speaking of are the ones who understood the need they had for salvation, the need of acceptance that they had for salvation. And though they seem to be described in economic poverty terms in the Bible, and this is why it’s been misunderstood for so many years, they are truly those who were willing to no longer struggle to exist, but instead throw themselves, at the feet of Jesus to ask, even though they may not have used the word, for forgiveness. and to see things differently.
If you are not desperate enough to make your Call for Love, in a singular and absolute way, then you cannot receive the singular Answer that waits not on time, that waits only on Welcome.
And when we cry out in this very pure way, we are calling all the angels, and all the ministers of God that operate through the power of the Holy Spirit to minister to us, in our distress by shamelessly uncovering it and exposing, and expressing, how desperate we feel how unable to cope we are experiencing our lives and how we do not perceive that trying harder, better, doing more, would change anything and it is those ones that Jesus joins with in the Bible
Jesus does not go around doing miracles for those who have not asked with their whole heart. Jesus only addresses those who come in that purity of a singular need, with a desire for the Breath of Life, a desire for the Water of Life.
And who do you think thirsts more, the rich man or the poor man? Because the rich man in the Bible is one that has received consolation through their own means and does not have the humility to understand that the Water of Life is what they need. And therefore they do not call out.
In the Bible, the Scribes and the Pharisees had great composure, and confidence in the rules and laws of the time. Whether they were their own rabbinic laws, or whether they were the laws they had to live under Caesar, they had great faith that construct. That construct of nobility and wealth was a defense, and as we know it now, “a defense against the truth.” They saw it as a defense against poverty.
Yet truly, it was a defense against the truth, because they asked nothing of Jesus. And beyond that, being disquieted by His Presence, they sought to attack him. Jesus understood that those who attack are poor. So he did not condemn them either.
And in that beautiful episode in the Bible when Jesus stands, and they come with Mary Magdalene to taunt him into doing something that would be against laws of the time. They say, “Do you not condemn her?” which would be seen as the righteous thing to do.
They wanted to know as they were goading him into disobeying the laws. And in Jesus’s nonjudgment of all who were before him, he simply asked them, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” That he who has never been mistaken cast the first stone. And so disarmed by this Presence of Love. Even their Call for Love, though it may have been quiet, and hidden shamefully inside their glamorous robes. All the men left the square.
Jesus took Mary Magdalene’s hand and he said, “Go and sin no more.”
And many have taken that to see that he was judging her, and that she should “do better” in the future. But he was saying: No longer believe this shameful thinking about yourself. Your call for love has been Answered. In that moment, Mary Magdalene Accepts the Love that Jesus offers her, the Love of God, and she is changed.
And she is a disciple of love from there.
And so if you wish to Answer The Call for Love.
If you wish to answer your own Call for love, it must be with a singular devotion that opens to the experience that all healing is in mind. That poverty is of a denial of the Spirit and has nothing to do with economics.
In the Bible, it is also said, “Freely you have received, now freely give.” And what is it that you think the disciples of Jesus, the apostles had received? Do you think it was wealth that they were now to share amongst the poor? Do you think it was care and time and attention that would keep them in hospitals? Do you think it was that care for poverty-stricken individuals? Or do you believe that it was to freely share the Good News that they had received wherever they may be sent?
And it is that distinction that will help you now confront, any misgivings you may have about what is truly “good use of time.”
Where can you best serve the awakening mind in your own experience first and foremost, and then also by your extension of vibrancy of being a living demonstration of this Good News.
How to Answer your Calling
To answer your Calling you must first understand what your Calling is!
Your Call is for healing in mind, to have your “perceptual problem” Corrected by the Comforter, by the Holy Spirit.
And in the comfort of His Presence. Allow yourself to be aligned, and lit, and alive, in the vibrancy of Christ.
Then whatever busy doing you’re sent on, that will extend.
And yet, like Jesus, I would imagine that where you will be sent is where there is most need. And again, remember our definition of need. Those who thirst for the water of life. Those who have a singular desire to be relieved of suffering in mind. Those who have a singular hope that their Call for Love will be Answered.
Those who have undivided attention, and have looked to Jesus as the Source of their Answer.
And so all poverty is of the Spirit. And when the Spirit is lacking and we are on a treadmill loop of time and space and trying to survive, which is very understandable. We must look with charity upon our brothers and sisters and yet also firmly put our attention on those that we can minister that have the deepest Call and the most immediate need, to have their poverty of Love Answered because they are the ones Calling for that Love. Exactly. as you have been trained to minister to them.
And so it is with great appreciation for how easy it is to misunderstand what your Calling is. And how ideas of being good, and trying harder, and giving in form can ride along and disguise and distract a lot from your calling that in this time after Easter when our focus has been firmly put on resurrection in mind. “Let this mind that was also in Christ Jesus be in you.”
And if we take that invitation truly to heart, we need not stop whatever commitments we’ve made in form. Yet, as we witness to ourselves going through the mechanism of those day-to-day rituals, we can begin to notice how much shame and a blame is being atoned for. In an “old style” atonement way, which means trying to make up for something that was actually wrong. Something out of our awareness that we can’t quite remember. Perhaps something at the forefront of your mind where you do feel literal guilt in response to that idea.
And yet the focus needs to be on healing in mind for yourself. You need to begin to question the guilt that you are carrying. And you need to begin to look at the beliefs that have ridden along with what you thought was your calling.
Who are these “others” that you were trying so desperately to help?
These weak people that need “you?”
You see, charity is a way of looking at your brother that sees him beyond his current state. It is seeing Christ in your brother. It is seeing him powerful, and not weak at all, or needing anything from “you.” Charity is recognizing your own need, and have it met.
In order to have that Answered, you must be willing to humbly come, and with a singular desire, beyond the mixed motivations the Spirit is helping you unwind from…
